Art At The Rendon Presents RHYTHMS OF THE CITY
100+ Musicians to Perform a Live, Collaborative Love Song to Los Angeles
As a Benefit for Music Education
LOS ANGELES , CA – From Friday, November 8, to Sunday, November 10, 2019, Art At The Rendon presents RHYTHMS OF THE CITY, a live, collaborative performance featuring more than 100 local musicians at The Rendon, 2055 E 7th St, Los Angeles, CA 90021. This immersive, site-specific experience will fuse various styles of live music and dance into a simultaneous performance that transforms the three-story building into a musical instrument. Following the success of HIDDEN ROOMS and STORIES in 2018, Art At The Rendon’s latest production will highlight the musical and cultural diversity of Los Angeles, while emphasizing the synergy of the city as a whole.
100% of proceeds will benefit Play With Music, a Los Angeles nonprofit that brings music and technology education to underserved youth.
In RHYTHMS OF THE CITY, The Rendon building on the corner of E. 7th St and S. Santa Fe Ave in the DTLA Arts District will come alive with the sounds of Los Angeles. As immigrants from all over the world have relocated here to build new lives, they’ve brought their musical history with them. RHYTHMS OF THE CITY will honor that musical diversity, uniting everyone from jazz, to Afro-Cuban pop, and chamber music to mariachi bands, in a collective musical performance.
Grammy-winning composer Heitor Pereira is writing the music for RHYTHMS OF THE CITY, which will feature selected musicians from varying cultures and musical disciplines, including bands, soloists, and ensembles. Through the music’s shared refrain, these diverse artists will represent Los Angeles as a whole.
Throughout RHYTHMS OF THE CITY, the audience will have timed tickets to explore the hotel during this one-of-a-kind performance, feeling the heartbeat of the city and its unexpected harmonies from within. They will experience the overall piece either from the threshold of each room or as they roam the corridors, light well, and perimeter of the building.
RHYTHMS OF THE CITY is a limited-run event. It will be open to the public as a ticketed fundraiser from Friday, November 8 to Sunday, November 10, 2019; 100% of proceeds will be donated to Play With Music, a nonprofit that provides music education for underserved Los Angeles youth.
Tickets ($35) are available through Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/art-at-the-rendon-rhythms-of-the-city-tickets-75767523703
